Special Tuesday Night Tasting with Adam Fox of Canard Vineyards

Special Tuesday Night Tasting with Adam Fox of Canard Vineyards

Canard Vineyard has been quietly producing small production, hand crafted wines for over thirty years. Each year we produce eight unique estate wines: Coucher de Soleil Rosé, Zinfandel, Cabernet Sauvignon, Throwback, Adam’s Blend, The Rescuer, our Reserve Zinfandel and our Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon. All of our wines are produced from estate grown grapes which are skillfully transformed into the finest expression of each varietal. We are dedicated to creating wines of distinction with an emphasis on quality over quantity. Situated on the Northwest corner of Dunaweal Lane and the Silverado Trail in Calistoga, the twenty-five acre property is considered a historic vineyard in Napa Valley. The property was the original homestead of Captain Reason P. Tucker, who gained notoriety for leading the efforts to rescue the survivors of the ill fated Donnor Party. The residence at Canard was built in 1859 and quickly became the center of social activity in the area during the late 1800’s. Zinfandel was planted over 120 years ago and remarkably those dry farmed vines still stand, yielding a small quantity of incredibly elegant fruit which goes into our highly coveted Reserve Zinfandel. Over the years, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot and of course our Cabernet Sauvignon were planted and have been meticulously cared for using painstaking but extremely effective vineyard practices. Creating wine at this level demands a great deal of discernment and sacrifice and most of it takes place in the vineyard. The result is the culmination of what man and nature can do when they work together in harmony. FEATURED WINES: 2012 Canard Vineyards, Cabernet Sauvignon, Napa, California paired with cheese and...Read More

JAN KRUPP A Bay Area internist with a medical degree from Stanford, Dr. Jan Krupp was hungry for the joy he once felt working his mother’s New England gardens and his uncle’s Virginia farm. Over the years, an amateur interest in finely-crafted wines had blossomed into full-blown Oenophilia, with weekdays in the doctor’s office followed by weekends in the cellar making home wines with friends. Shortly after moving to Napa in 1991 and planting a 41-acre home vineyard, a large swath of land come up for sale just a few miles away. He enlisted his brother Bart, and the two doggedly set about to transform this wild expanse into what is now Stagecoach Vineyard. Dr. Jan Krupp’s passion is evident in the carefully tended vines and hand-crafted wines. On any given day, you’ll find Dr. Krupp supervising the care of the 650-acre vineyard or with the winemaker nurturing the maturing wines. STAGECOACH VINEYARD Rising over the fog line of Napa Valley’s eastern mountains, Stagecoach Vineyard boasts the thin, rocky volcanic soils ideal for growing world-class wine grapes. Stretching over 1,300 contiguous acres, with 650 acres planted, the undulating, varied terrain creates diverse Meso-climates and soil conditions that are distinctively...Read More

We are focusing on appellation-driven wines that appeal to a more wine-savvy audience. These wines, which include B Side, Aquinas, Don & Sons, The Crusher and Project Paso, are sourced from specific wine-growing regions such as Napa Valley, Sonoma Coast, Clarksburg and Paso Robles. At the end of the day, I’ve learned that the best thing a winery can offer is well-made wines of consistent quality. That’s our family tradition, and that continues to be our vision for Don & Sons.” Featured Wines: 2014 Simple Life Chardonnay, California paired with Cucumber Caprese Salad with Balsamic reduction sauce Wonderful balance between bright notes of lemon and orange peel along with largely aromatic notes of papaya and nectarine.
