Wine No. 1

2011 Costa Browne Pinot Noir, Santa Lucia Highlands, California

Full ruby. A powerfully scented bouquet displays smoky black raspberry, cherry, licorice and oak spices. Pliant dark berry flavors gain energy with air, taking a turn to zestier raspberry and bitter cherry. Impressively deep but focused and energetic Pinot, with excellent finishing lift and lingering spiciness. Rated 90-92pts.

~Mushroom and meatball skewer with a mushroom cream sauce

Wine No. 2

2005 Cheval des Andes red blend, Mendoza, Argentina

Deep, almost black core, with bright violet highlights with aromas of fresh red berries, combined with blackcurrant and redcurrants, followed by roses and violets. It is completed by hints of Asian spices such as fresh ginger, nutmeg and cinnamon. Supplementary traces of licorice and plums. The palate has sensual mouthfeel, with great structure supported by soft and elegant tannins accompanied by subtle acidity. The increased presence of Malbec in the blend guarantees an excellent balance between the Cabernet Sauvignon’s structure and Malbec’s freshness. Rated 94pts

~Salmon cakes with dill-caper tartar sauce

Wine No. 3

2011 Mollydooker ‘Carnival of Love’ Shiraz, McLaren Vale, Australia

This is the wine I tell all my friends about. To see the look on their faces after their first sip is priceless. The 2011 Carnival of Love so clearly shows the essence of Mollydooker. It has elegance; a complete, intense, seamless flavour spectrum; a sumptuous mouth feel and perfect balance. At 92% Fruit Weight it is a wine to go WOW about, an absolute beauty. ~Winemaker’s Notes. ~Spicy vegetable soup

Wine No. 4

2005 Buccella Cabernet Sauvignon, Napa Valley, California

This wine struts its stuff in an elegant but powerful style, with notes of black fruits, burning embers, roasted meats, and a hint of subtle bay leaf. The wine has terrific fruit concentration, full-bodied power, substantial but ripe tannins, and a long, long finish. This wine should drink nicely for at least two decades. Rated 95pts

~Prime Rib sliders with a creamy horseradish sauce

Wine No. 5

2003 Vineyard 29 Cabernet Sauvignon, Napa Valley, California

Inky red, tinged with thick purple hues. The nose opens with fresh mixed berry fruit and ripe cherry aromas with hints of violets and crème de cassis. Toasted baking spices, dusty cocoa, coffee and graphite add enhanced layers of complexity. Firm but soft velvety tannins are balanced with the natural fruit acids to keep the palate lively. Blackberries, concentrated blueberry, and subtle toasty oak flavors persist through a lengthy finish. Rated 93pts

~Cheese service

Wine No. 6

2006 Amuse Bouche red blend, Napa Valley, California

Bright ruby-red. Vibrant aromas of cassis, flowers and incense, lifted by a violet top note. Suave and sexy wine, at once plush and light on its feet, with excellent definition and intensity to its scented flavors of dark berries and brown spices. Finishes long and perfumed, with fine-grained tannins. Rated 92pts

~Rich double chocolate brownie
