2011 Runquist Pinot Noir, Carneros – Napa Valley, California
Ruby purple color of light to moderate depth with carmine hues. The aroma of this vintage features ripe red currants, plums and cherry and is framed with a light dose of smoky French oak. There is also a perfume that is reminiscent of violets and lavender with just enough of an earthy mushroom note that is so typical of Pinot Noir. The flavors feature succulent ripe red currant and cherry fruit with a hint of caramel. The texture is velvety and creamy which contributes to a lusciously smooth finish. ~Winemakers Notes.
2012 Runquist Grenache, Silvaspoon Vineyards, California
This past June the judges at the California State Fair Commercial Wine Competition voted on 2013’s “Best Red Wine in Lodi”: the 2012 Jeff Runquist “R” Alta Mesa-Lodi Grenache, sourced from Ron Silva’s Silvaspoons Vineyards.
What had the State Fair judges so enthralled: vivid violet-red color; gushy, high toned, strawberry coulis-like fragrance with smidgens of hazelnut-like wood complexities seeping out from the seams; and sharply defined, silky-fine texturing, giving the wine’s plump red berryishness a soft yet notably snappy, lip smacking, bright and lively feel. ~Judges Comments
2012 Lamadrid Single Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon, Agrelo, Argentina
Perfumed, ripe aromas of redcurrant, tobacco leaf, graphite and beefsteak tomato. Sweet, supple and lush, with moderate complexity and no rough edges. Finishes with soft tannins.
2006 Vin 29 ‘CRU’ Cabernet Sauvignon, NAPA Valley, California
75% Cabernet Sauvignon, 18% Merlot, and the rest Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot
Bright ruby. Pungent aromas of blueberry, blackberry, minerals and menthol, lifted by an exotic suggestion of white fruits. Dense, broad and large-scaled. Brooding flavors of dark fruits and dusty brown spices. Quite full and dry, finishing with serious tannic spine. 92-94pts Tanzer.”
2012 TOR Family Hommage Allan ‘ROCK’ Syrah, Napa, California
Only 275 case production. The nose on this 2012 Allan just explodes with sage, grilled meat, black pepper and sweet tobacco. On the palate this wine is very rich and full bodied. This shows mostly black fruit, dried herbs and BBQ spices. The finish on this sails on forever and only starts to taper off after 40 seconds. ~Winemakers Notes.
