WEDNESDAY NIGHT TASTE APRIL 23, 2014

2012 Columbia Winery Chardonnay, Columbia Valley, Washington

A warm and toasty expression of Chardonnay, this wine opens with aromas of pear, apple and hints of tropical fruits. On the palate, flavors of a fresh baked apple pie unfold with a toasty bread character from the oak. A round mouthfeel and luscious, soft finish makes this Chardonnay a beautiful pairing for crab, creamy seafood Risotto, or of course, a baked Washington apple pie.

NV Columbia Winery Composition red wine, Columbia Valley, Washington

Crafted from the most flavorful grapes across multiple vintages, with a majority selected from 2011, Composition is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Syrah – a grape that we introduced to Washington State. Rich and medium-bodied, this wine has blackberry aromas and ripe red fruit flavors of cranberry, cherry and plum that are framed by hints of spicy oak. With a balanced acidity, soft tannins and a lingering finish, this Composition is truly a work of art. Try Composition with duck or Ellensburg lamb and ratatouille.

2012 Columbia Winery Merlot, Columbia Valley, Washington

Columbia Winery Merlot opens with a dark color that has a distinct purple edge. Enticing aromas of cherry and plum with a hint of violet float from the glass and continue to the palate, where they are joined by pronounced notes of toasty oak, vanilla and hints of mocha. Rich and plush in the mouth, this Merlot has firm tannins and a lingering finish.

CABERNET SAUVIGNON, MERLOT, SYRAH, PETIT VERDOT, MALBEC and CARMENERE
Aromas of currant, plum, and dried fruits lead into a silky smooth palate with lots of fruit, and a touch of spice and chocolate on the long, seductive finish.

2008 Three Rivers Winery, Cabernet Sauvignon, Columbia Valley, Washington

This big, rich, and dark wine comes from an outstanding vintage, showing flavors and aromas of blackcurrants, black cherries, and plum, along with undertones of dark chocolate and some light earthy tones. The cut of 1% Petite Verdot shows up in the nice, peppery note on the nose. Full body, structured, and showing some depth.
