Wine Tasting Notes:

2011 Sineann White Table Wine, Marlborough, New Zealand

Displays tropical fruits and grapefruit on the nose which led to nicely rounded fruits and citrus flavors on the palate. Crisp, refreshing, and very easy to drink. Sauvignon Blanc that is light and refreshing that still displays delicious tropical fruit and lemon/lime zest aromas and flavors.

2011 Portillo Estate Bottle Malbec, Valle de Uco, Mendoza, Argentina

Deep ruby red with shades of violet. Rich with fruit, the nose is reminiscent of plums and blackberries. Tannins as soft as velvet set the stage for an enviably round finish.

2011 McManis Family Vineyards Pinot Noir, California

Light purple amethyst in color with a lustrous hue. Fresh strawberry, sherry pie filling and black cherry aromas, joined by hazelnut and vanilla bouquet, can be discerned. Bountiful sweet red fruit flavors are perceptible as the round silky wine passes through the mouth. Caramelized sugar and Vanilla, lent to the wine from oak aging, are perceptible in the finish.

2010 Burn Cottage Pinot Noir, Central Otago, New Zealand

A more earthy brooding wine than the 2009 vintage. Notes of both black and green teas emerge first from the glass. Interestingly, the fruit tones of blackberry and morelo cherry need some time to show in the glass. These are then joined by a hint of orange zest, vanilla bean, pomegranate and violets. Cellar for 7-10 years. Highly limited.

2008 Sella and Mosca, Cannonau di Sardegna Riserva, Sardinia, Italy

100 percent Grenache. Pleasantly rustic, it combines red fruit notes with earthy and spicy elements. Mild tannins lend support with being intrusive.

2010 Alexander Valley Vineyards Sin Zin, Healdsburg, California

Aromas of raspberry, plum, black cherry, and citrus. In the glass there are flavors of plum, cranberry, black cherry, and classic spicy black pepper. The 2010 is a restrained vintage and will reward those with the patience to cellar a few bottles. 2009 vintage rated 91 pts.
