2011 Tooth & Nail 'The Glutton'

2011 Tooth & Nail ‘The Glutton’

Knock off the chill with our Wednesday Night Wine Tasting featuring five great red wines from $9 to $40 a bottle.  Stop in for a tasting this evening from 5:30pm to 8:30pm and while your here, enjoy on of the many great appetizers offered.

2011 Castillo de Monseran Garnacha, Carinena, Spain

Bright red berry fruits, juicy acidity and overall sense of balance and drinkability. In the region of Cariñena, this grape variety seems to find a lovely expression, one which is less high octane and lighter on its feet than in some of the neighboring regions. And, as ever, it’s a terrific red wine bargain for anyone looking for an inexpensive house red or wine for any party, wedding, or other event.

2009 Highflyer ‘Centerline’ red blend, Napa Valley, California

Syrah, Petite Sirah, Zinfandel and Grenache

Aromas are ripe with black cherry, chocolate, and spicy notes leap out of the glass. The palate full and rich with a touch of lush tannins, fresh berries, and rounded out by good acidity and integrated oak.

2011 Tooth & Nails Wines ‘The Glutton’ syrah-petite Sirah, Paso Robles, California

Syrah and Petite Sirah

Bright in fruit and brooding in its earthen intensity. The nose offers a concentrated bouquet of wild game, strawberry jam, brambly berries, croissant, crushed violet and sweet cigar wrapper. It is a beautifully layered effort, and on the palate shows olive tapenade, boysenberry, herbs du provence, venison stew and spicy tobacco leaf. A full-bodied wine throughout, it finishes with sweet beet, soft tannin and pink peppercorn spicing.

2011 Murmur Vineyards ‘Amor Fati’ Syrah, Santa Maria Valley, California

Scented of warm figs, boysenberry, spice cake, aniseed and bacon fat with an undercurrent of dried Chinese plums, soy and Mexican chocolate. Rich, concentrated and medium to full bodied, it has a good line of crisp acid and velvety tannins, finishing long and layered. Delicious now, it will continue to evolve over the next ten years.

2011 Runquist Cabernet Sauvignon, Colina Poco Vineyards, Paso Robles, California

The wines we produced from Connie Klucker’s vineyard have a distinctive blueberry character and soft silky tannins and are always among the top rated wines of the vintage. Given this, it was only natural that when I wanted to add a Cabernet Sauvignon to our offerings here at Jeff Runquist Wines that I contact Connie. She graciously agreed to provide us with five tons of her fruit in 2000 and we have been producing the Colina Poca Cabernet Sauvignon ever since. ~Winemaker Comments
