With the last wine tasting of winter, I thought a nice traditional Italian dinner of Osso Bucco would be a great treat. We are featuring four Italian wines to go with dinner and a fantastic small production zinfandel to follow with a chocolate truffle dessert. Four coarse dinner along with 5 wines for 31.50 per person. Another great Wednesday evening. Reservations welcome.
2011 Anselmi Monteforte D’Alpone, Bianco, IGT Veneto, Italy
A variation on soave, with some chardonnay and sauvignon blanc added to the garganega. Starting to show some development, it’s mid-yellow and laden with buttered-toast, vanilla and malt scents that build lemon and honey in the mouth. Far greater depth and character than most soave.
2006 Cantine Galasso ‘CornoGrande’ Montepulciano D’Abruzzo Riserva, Italy
This Italian red wine features ethereal aroma with scents of ripe red fruits and spices. Full-bodied and slightly tannic, this wine is drinkable and smooth.

A blend of Corvina, Rondinella, Sangiovese, Cabernet Sauvignon. Deep ruby red with violet reflections. It offers a fruity vinous bouquet with a hint of spice. Typical of reds from this region, this wine showcases classic ripe strawberry, raspberry and black cherry fruit and a pleasing finish.”
2007 Castello Sonnino ‘Lo Schiavone’ Sangiovese-Malbec blend, IGT Toscana, Italy
A novelty, a unique wine of its kind and the most innovative of this area. This blend, 55% Sangiovese and 45% Malbec, creates a product totally different than other conventional wines. From the austerity of Sangiovese, joins the wide and balsamic flavor of Malbec. ruby red with violet. Intense, persistent, and finally, with floral notes of violets, with ripe berries, spiced with black pepper and licorice, roasted cocoa chocolate. Very intense and persistent taste, balanced. Quite soft and harmonious. Round and velvety tannins.
