2011 GEN 5 Old Vine Zinfandel, Lodi, California
Lush and juicy black and blue berries and a note of spice and licorice, with a lush mouth feel.
2011 Runquist Primitivo, Nostro Vino Vineyards, Amador County, California
Carmine-purple color of medium depth. The aromas are of red currants, dark cherries, and black raspberries. A more substantial than usual aroma has edged the bouquet of vanilla and hazelnut off of center stage and into a supporting role. On the palate juicy succulent red fruit flavors mingle with those of mocha, toast and oak. The tannins of this wine are mature and well integrated which makes for a soft smooth finish.
2011 Runquist Barbera, Cooper Vineyards, Amador County, California
The aromas carry plenty of red fruit, raspberry and cherry are the most predominant. The bouquet has spicy pie crust notes of nutmeg and vanilla. There is also a buttery toasted pastry scent that adds another dimension to this wine’s scent. On the palate this wine is juicy and succulent loaded with ripe red cherry flavors. The tannins are soft and this wine slides down smooth and easy.
2011 Gorman Winery ‘PIXIE’ Syrah, Red Mountain, Washington
Supple, polished and expressive, offering mint and other fresh herb notes around a focused core of black cherry and dried fig. Intense without being weighty. Small case production. Consistent ratings with the wine critics.
2007 JC Cellars Alexandra Late Harvest Viognier, Ripkin Vineyards, Lodi, CA.
Rich, ripe and voluptuous, with tiers of nectarine, apricot, honey and caramel flavors. Sweet and spicy aromas with layers of flavors make this dessert wine a stunner. A hint of orange peel lies on the long and elegant finish.
